SUMMARY:Photography Publishing Across the Globe
DESCRIPTION:Join us at Aperture for a special conversation between Anshika Varma from Offset Projects and Russet Lederman and Olga Yatskevich from 10×10 Photobooks\, as they discuss the independent publishing scene from New Delhi to New York.  \n\n\n\nOffset Projects is a curatorial initiative engaging with acts of reading and creation through photography’s relationship with printed matter. Rooted in South Asia\, it addresses images as sites of memory\, imagination\, and collective knowledge-making through artist books\, exhibitions\, reading rooms\, workshops\, residencies\, and public programs. Its work fosters transnational exchange while examining the social\, political\, and material lives of images. 10×10 Photobooks is a nonprofit\, community-oriented organization that champions and facilitates thoughtful and passionate engagement with the photobook through a focus on contemporary practice and overlooked publications\, stories\, and creators in photobook histories. \n\n\n\nAnshika Varma’s practice engages with images and the many worlds that reside within them. Working across image making\, publishing\, and curation\, she investigates how personal\, collective\, and mythical histories shape relationships between individuals and their environments. Her work foregrounds memory\, inheritance\, and loss\, exploring quiet materiality as vessels of identity and sites of shared experience. Central to her practice is the book\, both as an artistic medium and a democratic space\, one that resists exclusivity and expands access to artistic expression. Anshika’s works and curations have been part of exhibitions\, festivals\, and conversations at Fotomuseum Winterthur; Aarhus Museum; Lumenvisum\, Hong Kong; Photo Kathmandu; and Chennai Photo Biennale. She has contributed essays and interviews to Aperture magazine\, Photobooks&\, 1000 Words\, and the Alkazi Foundation. She is the founder of Offset Projects. \n\n\n\nRusset Lederman and Olga Yatskevich are the co-founders of 10×10 Photobooks. \n\n\n\nCapacity is limited\, tickets are required to attend.image: Spread from STATIC\, Adil Hasan [2026].

SUMMARY:10 × 10 Salon with Poulomi Basu
DESCRIPTION:Join us for the next 10×10 Salon with Poulomi Basu\, organized in collaboration with Magnum Foundation. \n\n\n\nBasu will talk about her new publications Ecdysis and Always Coming Home. \n\n\n\nPoulomi Basu is a neuroexpansive artist known for her exploration of the interrelationship between systems of power and bodies through work that exists at the limits of photography/art\, film\, creative technologies and activism. Basu’s work is defined by her transnational identity\, working across hybrid\, interdisciplinary and experimental mediums. Whilst the centre of her works is often women of the Global South (non Euro-centric)\, like herself\, her art and its histories are connected beyond their places of origin. \n\n\n\nBasu is a BAFTA Breakthrough UK 2024 awardee\, was nominated in competition at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival\, and received the ICP Infinity Award in 2023. Her book Centralia (2020) won the Rencontres d’Arles Discovery Award Jury Prize and was shortlisted for the Deutsche Börse Photography Foundation Prize. In 2020\, she received the Royal Photographic Society Hood Medal for Blood Speaks\, a transmedia project that contributed to major policy change. Her work is held in leading international museum and institutional collections. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEmerging from the characters featured in Busa’s Always Coming Home\, a film and installation first exhibited at Focal Point Gallery\, Southend-on-Sea\, this book expands the project’s exploration of transnational identity\, displacement\, and belonging. Drawing on archival materials\, research gathered during the creation of the work\, and synthesized data\, the book presents a series of imagined conversations between its characters. These dialogues move beyond the boundaries of the original installation\, creating a speculative space where voices can meet across time\, distance\, and experience. Part research\, part fiction\, and part artistic experiment\, this volume invites to engage with questions of memory\, migration\, and the enduring impact of displacement through a unique form of storytelling. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMagnum Foundation expands creativity and diversity in visual storytelling\, activating new audiences and ideas through the innovative use of images. Through grants\, mentorship\, and creative collaborations\, we partner with socially engaged imagemakers exploring new models for storytelling. Since our founding in 2007 by members of the Magnum Photos cooperative\, we have made more than 600 direct grants to visual storytellers from over 80 countries. To find out about upcoming exhibitions and events\, learn about grant opportunities\, or join our community of support\, please visit magnumfoundation.org. \n\n\n\nAccessibility:Magnum Foundation is in an elevator building and has a restroom that is wheelchair accessible and gender-neutral. SUMMARY:Salon with Martha Wilson and Anne Turyn
DESCRIPTION:Martha Wilson and Anne Turyn present two ground-breaking publications documenting 1970s-1980s New York Avant-Garde performance and bookmaking. \n\n\n\nArtist and Franklin Furnace founder Martha Wilson will discuss her new book\, Back to the Present: 50 Years of Free Expression with Franklin Furnace\, a 50th-anniversary celebration of the legendary arts institution Franklin Furnace. This visually rich volume captures five decades of boundary-breaking art and the ongoing fight to defend creative freedom. Further\, it chronicles stories by individuals from arts groups across the U.S.A. who also fought in the Culture Wars of the Reagen 80s. Anne Turyn\, a New York-based fine art photographer\, will share Top Stories\, a prose periodical that she edited and published from 1978 to 1991. Over the course of twenty-nine issues\, it served as a pivotal platform for experimental fiction and art through single-artist issues and two anthologies. Primarily featuring female artists\, though in Turyn’s words a few men “crept in as collaborators\,” Top Stories was recently rereleased by Primary Information. \n\n\n\nThis event is organized in collaboration with the New York Public Library
