DESCRIPTION:In June 2025\, 10×10 Photobooks awarded its 4th cycle of Research Grants on Photobook History. The research conducted by the Cycle 4 grantees seeks to fill gaps and provide missing information in the history of the photobook\, with a specific focus on research related to topics associated with10×10 Photobooks’ Flashpoint! project on protest and social conflict. We are very excited to share the results of that research in a virtual event.The Cycle 4 grantees and their subjects are: \n\n\n\n\nEliana Del Rosario The Amber Mirror: the Visual Archive of Afro-Caribbean Resistance Photobooks of the Afro-Caribbean Diaspora and its Role in Social Protest (1950- Present)\n\n\n\nMegan N. Liberty Women’s Radical Self-Publishing of the Bodies\, Xerox in the 1960s to 1980s: Barbara T. Smith and Joan Lyons\n\n\n\nAliwen Women Come Alive: Michiko Matsumoto’s Photobooks and the Ephemera of Women’s Lib in Japan\n\n\n\nSteeevez S Documenting Resistance: Analyzing the Visual Archives of Dalit Murasu in Chronicling Tamil Dalit Struggles\n\n\n\n\nThe 4 grantees from that cycle will be presenting their results via Google Meet onThursday\, 10 September (New York / EST Time):New York: 9 pm EST\, Thursday\, 10 SeptemberMexico City: 7 pm\, Thursday\, 10 SeptemberLos Angeles: 6 pm PST\, Thursday\, 10 SeptemberIndia: 6:30 am\, Friday\, 11 SeptemberJapan: 12 pm (noon)\, Friday\, 11 SeptemberThe program will last approximately 90 minutes\, during which the 4 recipients will present the outcomes of their work for about 15-20 minutes each. \n\n\n\nWe recognize the challenges with time zones\, and this event will be recorded and will be posted on the 10×10 YouTube site. \n\n\n\nIf you wish to join the event live\, please register using the link below.
